Elucidation of Neural Mechanism and Emergence about Human Communication

In daily conversations with sympathetic friends, we sometimes like to say "we are compatible!" Such friendships might involve in indefinable synchronizations between our rhythms such as hand clapping, nodding in conversation, and so on. Although the behavioral synchronization plays an important role in social communication with others, it is unclear about its causal mechanisms. Like behavioral synchronization, our brain rhythms are synchronized not only between neurons but also between neuron groups (i.e. brain regions) in order to achieve cognitive functions such as memory and emotion. I am pursuing research on the relationships between brain rhythms and human communication. By comparing communication among different individuals (e.g. race, generation, autism) or among different environments (e.g. one-to-one or group), I attempt to clarify the issues neuro- psychologically and then to construct a program for improvement of communication disorders. Using the findings, I also aim to develop interfaces for facilitation of working.
